I, for one, am really looking forward to the Festival for Freedom. Thanks to Deacon Claude and to the committee for doing such fantastic work!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTRATION:
See posts on the home page for more information on how the Festival for Freedom responds to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ request for a Fortnight for Freedom. The plans for speakers, events and fellowship at Notre Dame Retreathouse from June 21-July 4th are exemplary among all plans being made in the US to honor the Bishops’ request. The USCCB website provides additional background information.
To be as current as possible, plans are likely to expand even up to the time of the Festival, so revisit this site often and the Local Events section too. Here in this blog all registered users have the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and make comments. Just click on “Read More” to bring up a comment box and read the input of others.
To ask questions, share ideas, or make comments regarding the June 8 procession, click “Read More” and the Comment box will come up for registrants on this site. (Festival Committee in making arrangements, please use the Private Forum.)
Key details: meet at 11:30 AM on lawn of St. Mary Canandaigua (95 North Main St. at Gibson St.) Sign up at tent booth, receive pin and information, enjoy Freedom Signage. Silent Procession will begin at approximately 11:45AM, walking two blocks to the Ontario County Court House. This is the site where Susan B. Anthony’s trial was held for her act of civil disobedience in casting a vote at a time when women did not have the right to vote.
At noon, as church bells peal, we will make the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag, and return in silence to St. Mary’s. All supporters of Freedom are most welcome.
